Are credit cards that are issued from a bank for eg; bank of america considered bank accounts ?

my bright but nosey stepson and i want know are credit cards issued through a bank like bank of america considered bank accounts i have credit card issued through them and he saw it in my wallet and said hey i thought you did not have bank acct. i told i don't its credit card but he said why does say bank of america so please help me any one to explain this please.
