Are we asking too much?

I am a bridesmaid and I feel like we are asking too much. All the maids are putting together a bridal shower for the bride. Each guest will bring a gift (obviously) and I did something special where in the invitation is a recipe card. Each guest will bring a completed recipe card and I will put together a cookbook for the bride. Now another bridesmaid wants to ask people to bring new y underwear for the bride to string across the backyard. I feel like we are asking the guests to bring too much. Every time I say that it sounds a little greedy I am shot down. Not to mention that I already sealed all the envelopes and would have to buy new ones. The bride is insisting we ask for all the stuff. Am I wrong in saying its too much?
