Should I tell my my employer that I am looking for another job before I actually have one?

Not smart. Most places at at will employers so if u say something now he can just fire in the spot. If u want to be polite u can tell the other job u can start in two weeks that way u can give ur current employer notice. Again if it is an at will job u don't really need to give any notice.
